Washington Historical Museum

An 1857 house is home to the Washington Historical Museum. The musem boasts a large collection featuring Civil War relics, Indian artifacts, and a re-creation of 19th century home life. The house is open Tuesday-Saturday from 10am-5pm with a minimal admission fee.

Constructed in 1869, this mansion was the focal point of a 3,000 acre cotton plantation that stretched as far as the eye could see in all directions. The home remains virtually unaltered. The Plantation is open Tuesday-Saturday from 10am-5pm with a minimal admission fee.

Robert Toombs, born in Wilkes County in 1810, was a powerful and robust personality, one of the most dramatic figures in Georgia history. The house is open Tuesday-Saturday from 10am-5pm with a minimal admission fee.

Kettle Creek Battle Field 

Located off Hwy 44 - 8 miles SW of Washington
The battle of Kettle Creek was the only Revolutionary War battle one in the state of Georgia.  Enjoy the war loop trail, interpretive signage describing the battle and recent archaeological studies.
